U.S. ONLINE PASSPORT RENEWAL

Free U.S. passport photo checker.

Check your original photo for free in your browser. For online renewal, submit your original unedited photo to the State Department and use its own positioning and cropping tools. Preview the optional print layout here; print-file purchases are coming later.

These automated checks are estimates, not official approval or a human expert review. We cannot authenticate your identity, when a photo was taken, or whether it was AI-generated, retouched or beautified. Passing does not guarantee acceptance; the State Department's system and staff make the final decision.

How it works

1. Take an original photoHave someone take your photo, several feet away, in even light against a plain white or off-white wall.
2. Check and reviewSee free automated estimates and review your original. Your photo stays in your browser. Online renewal uses your original unedited photo in the official system.
3. Review the previewInspect the head guides and original photo. Print-file purchases are not available during this free beta. Estimates are not an approval guarantee.

Quick answer: original upload or printed photo?

Official online renewal: upload your original, unedited camera photo directly to the State Department. Use its own positioning and cropping tools, not our watermarked print preview.

Paper applications: submit a physical 2×2 inch photo that meets the official requirements. Our beta shows a possible print crop; downloadable print files are not available yet. A 4×6 layout is a printing convenience, not a government-required format.

Compare official requirements with what this checker can estimate.

What we check

Our basic checks are informed by the State Department's digital photo requirements. Automated estimates cannot detect every problem.

A failed or uncertain check blocks purchase. We never replace your background, retouch your face or generate a photo. Automated checks can miss problems; your confirmations are not independently verified by us. The 600×600 JPG is our print output, not an online-renewal certification.

Free checks now. Print files coming later.

Public beta: no payments or downloadable print files yet. The planned print-preparation price is $4.99 one-time; this is not an offer to purchase today.

Planned print preparation for paper applications: one 4×6 inch sheet with six 2×2 inch photos, plus a separate 2×2 print JPG. You can inspect the watermarked crop preview during this beta.

The future purchase would cover digital files only. Printing, paper and delivery would cost extra. Print at 100% actual size, without automatic cropping or scaling, and measure the finished photos.

U.S. passport photo 4x6 inch sheet layout with six 2x2 photo spaces Two columns and three rows of square photo spaces. Each space represents a 2 by 2 inch photo on a 4 by 6 inch sheet. Illustrations only, not usable passport photos. LAYOUT EXAMPLE — NOT A PHOTO
Planned layout: six 2×2 inch photos on one 4×6 inch sheet. Future downloads would use your own photo without this example artwork or preview watermark.

Tip: Compare the total cost of our files plus local printing with an in-store service that also takes your photo. Printing a prepared 4×6 sheet may cost less, but store prices, services and promotions vary; check locally before purchasing.

For online renewal, use your original unedited photo in the official system; you do not need to buy our print files. Neither free checks nor payment guarantees government acceptance. 14-day refund policy.

FAQ

Will the State Department accept this photo?

We cannot guarantee acceptance. Our estimates are not a government decision or human expert review. Even a photo that passes the official system's initial checks is subject to staff review. Review the official requirements yourself.

Which photo should I upload for online renewal?

Upload your original unedited camera photo to the official online-renewal system, then use its own positioning and cropping tools. Do not use our print-preparation JPG as a certified online-renewal file.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. All processing of your selected photo runs locally in your web browser; this tool does not upload it to our servers or external photo-processing services. The website host still receives normal page requests. Checkout is disabled during this beta. Use Clear photo to start again, and do not attach photos or identity documents to feedback emails.

What if my photo needs a retake?

We tell you exactly what to change before you pay. Checking is free.

What does print preparation include?

A 600×600 JPG for a 2×2 inch print and six 2×2 inch photos on one 4×6 inch sheet. Print at actual size on photo-quality paper and verify dimensions. We do not verify every paper-application or visa requirement, your printer's output or final government acceptance.

Can I buy print files today?

Not yet. This public beta provides free screening and previews only. Contact [email protected] with feedback; do not email your original photo or identity documents.
